General FAQs

  • FRC is a nationwide robotics competition run by FIRST Robotics. It is one of the hardest robotics competitions to compete in worldwide. Hamilton Microbots competes in FRC competitions. For more information, go to the First Robotics
    Competition Website.

  • We are the FRC robotics team for Hamilton High School, located in Chandler, Arizona. While we are a club connected to the school, our club runs year-round as we constantly work to share knowledge about robotics and engineering.

  • While most FRC teams are run by mentors (STEM teachers, members of the STEM field, etc.) who run the business side of the club and make the overall decisions in regards to the team, the Microbots are student-run. This means students run the club 100%. While we have mentors to help teach and guide us, students overall run the club themselves, whether through working on the business side and gaining sponsors, planning outreach events, etc., or planning and building/programming the robot itself.

  • Throughout the year, our club performs outreach to spread STEM throughout our community. We do this through events at our local library, schools, etc. If you are interested in having our club present at an event local to Chandler, AZ, please contact us!

  • Yes! New members are welcome year-round. If a new member from Hamilton High School is interested, visit D121 before or after school (during the school year). Otherwise, please visit the “Contact Us” page and fill out the form or email us by providing basic information about the interested member.

Please note, we expect students to reach out, not their parents. We expect our members to take initiative, for incoming members reaching out themselves would be the first step in this.

  • No! We require no previous knowledge/experience to join our club. We simply ask for a commitment and openness to learning new things as well as eagerness to help our club grow in the best possible manner.

Donation FAQs

  • Our club requires $20,000 to run annually. This money is used to pay club fees, competition fees, buy materials for building and programming our robot, pay for food to feed our members at outreach events and competitions, and other miscellaneous costs we experience year-round.

  • No! Tax credit donation is a great way to support our club if you are local to Chandler, AZ. By donating your tax credits, you are simply choosing exactly where your tax money goes. You already pay this money every year, by donating it towards our club, the money goes to us rather than a general public fund.

  • If you are a business looking to donate to our club, please contact us directly! We have ways to compensate local businesses and companies that donate certain monetary values towards our club as a way to show our gratitude.

  • While we encourage monetary donations due to the fact we spend $20,000 dollars annually to maintain our club, you can help in many ways!

If you have experience in the building, programming, or business fields and are willing to spare a couple of hours each week to assist us, we’d love to have you as a mentor. Simply contact us and explain your experience and that you wish to be a mentor, and we can go from there!

Our club always welcomes exposure, please follow us on Instagram @hamiltonmicrobots_698 and share our posts. Exposure is helpful when searching for new members, sponsors, etc.

  • Our name, The Hamilton Microbots, is inspired by the company Microchip, which has been a faithful sponsor for our club for many years.
